Since August 28, 2025, the International German School Hefei has been officially recognized as a Candidate School for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Middle Years Programme (MYP). Already since February 24, 2025, we have also been a Candidate School for the Diploma Programme (DP).

This is a major step forward! IGS is now on the pathway to becoming an IB World School in all three programmes – PYP, MYP, and DP.

What does this mean for our school community?

With the PYP (Primary School), the MYP (Middle School), and the DP (High School, expected from 2026/27), we can offer our students a continuous international education – from Kindergarten all the way to graduation with an internationally recognized university entrance qualification.

Together with our IB consultants, we are working on the further development of our curricula and concepts. The first on-site training sessions for our IB teaching team are already being planned.

The IB programmes focus not only on subject knowledge but also on nurturing curiosity, independence, open-mindedness, and a sense of responsibility. In this way, they support our vision of being a place of cultural encounter, where children and young people learn, grow, and shape the future together.
