IGS Symphonic Concert: A Celebration of Music and Culture

As we look ahead to the 2026 Chinese New Year, the IGS Symphonic Concert took centre stage with a wonderful evening of performance. With warm wishes for the year ahead, the concert treated our community to a rich audio-visual experience.

Ms Heide Schaffer, Head of School, opened the event with a welcome address, greeting our guests, faculty, students, and parents.

The Student Orchestra began the programme and immediately set an upbeat tone with the Prelude from Carmen. They then performed the graceful Blue Danube and the lively theme from Zootopia, showcasing the energy, progress, and artistic potential of our young musicians.

When the gentle melody of Jasmine Flower filled the hall, the evening reached a particularly meaningful cross-cultural moment. The IGS Faculty and Student Choir sang with warmth and sincerity, blending beautifully with the orchestra.

Together, they brought new life to this beloved Chinese folk song and reflected our school’s commitment to a truly multicultural community.

In the Faculty Orchestra segment, our musicians delivered a polished programme spanning a range of styles—from the lyrical Eastern elegance of Butterfly Lovers: Transformation to the cinematic sweep of the Pirates of the Caribbean Suite. Their performance was met with sustained applause and enthusiastic cheers from the audience.

A successful concert is only possible through the dedication and support of everyone involved. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Ms Agnes Bilowitzki and Ms Amalia Intan for their careful guidance, as well as to all teachers, parents, and partners who joined us for the evening.

Looking ahead, IGS will continue to use art and music as a bridge—strengthening community, celebrating culture, and nurturing international-mindedness.
