The 2025–2026 academic year at the International German School Hefei began with a vibrant and welcoming start, as teachers and students from over 12 countries and regions came together to launch the new term.

To mark the occasion, the IGS teaching team prepared a heartfelt welcome ceremony and a range of engaging activities. New students were greeted with cheerful songs and interactive games, helping them quickly feel part of the school community. Through collaborative campus tours, students explored every corner of the school—from the cosy classrooms and well-equipped music room to the gym and the library, which quickly became a favourite among many.

Throughout the week, children from diverse cultural backgrounds communicated in English, German, Chinese and other languages, transforming the start of term into a joyful exchange of ideas and perspectives—not just the delivery of knowledge.

Behind these enriching experiences is the strong professional support of our international teaching team. With staff hailing from Germany, the United States, South Africa, the Philippines, Vietnam and beyond, our educators bring both academic excellence and a wealth of classroom experience. Their shared commitment is to guide each student towards holistic development within an inclusive international learning environment.

Another highlight of Opening Week was the delicious food served in our school cafeteria. IGS Hefei is proud to partner with Sodexo, a Fortune 500 company based in France, to provide nutritious, high-quality meals. Menus are tailored around the principles of low salt, low fat and low oil, ensuring students are fuelled for an active and fulfilling school day.
