Summer Camp Begins at the International German School Hefei

The International German School Hefei officially kicked off its summer camp, marking the start of two weeks of learning, exploration, and creativity. Under the theme “IGS Explorers: Examining the World Around Us!”, students began the day with a calm and focused start through animal-themed morning yoga—an activity designed to help them ease into the camp atmosphere and feel at home in their new environment. This was followed by team-building activities in the gym, where students worked together in small groups, building trust and practising communication through movement-based games.

During the opening session, each child received a personalised summer camp kit, which included basic supplies and a reflection journal. The journal is intended to be used daily, giving students space to draw, write, and capture their thoughts and experiences throughout the programme.

After a healthy lunch served in the school’s cafeteria, students set off on an animal hunt around the school grounds. Along the way, they stopped at various stations, where they picked up fun facts about animals and completed short challenges. The day ended with a creative workshop, where students constructed their own zoo dioramas—an imaginative way to reflect on the animals they had encountered and to express what they had learnt.

The day served not only as an engaging start to the summer camp but also as a thoughtful lead-up to the field trip to the Hefei Zoo planned for tomorrow. With a balance of physical activity, creativity, and curiosity, the first day set a positive tone for the weeks ahead.
