A Winning Match: IGS Hefei x VfL Wolfsburg Summer China Tour

From August 4th to 6th, IGS Hefei and German Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg successfully hosted a dynamic three-day VfL Wolfsburg summer China tour, offering an unforgettable experience for 40 young football enthusiasts.

Under the expert guidance of coaches Johannes Held (UEFA A Licence) and David Miadi (UEFA B Licence), the participants engaged in intensive professional training sessions.

The camp focused on essential skills such as passing and receiving, coordination, and transitions between attack and defence. With passion and precision, the coaches introduced authentic German football philosophies and methods, helping the players integrate technical skills naturally into real-game scenarios.

Bilingual instruction was another highlight, as the coaches incorporated both German and English football terminology into their sessions—enhancing not only the participants’ athletic abilities but also their language skills in an engaging, practical context.

“The children’s passion and talent truly impressed me,” said coach Johannes Held. “Their grasp of tactics and their strong sense of teamwork exceeded all expectations. I was particularly struck by how quickly they picked up complex tactical drills. Even more rewarding was seeing the cross-cultural exchange among the players—this is the true beauty of football: it connects people across borders.”

The camp wrapped up with a spirited friendly match, where the young athletes showcased both their individual strengths and collective teamwork, demonstrating just how much they had grown over the course of the training.

“We hope to continue combining sport, education, and personal development through future events,” Held added. “Partnering with IGS Hefei gives children access to an international learning environment that supports their growth on and off the pitch.”

Looking ahead, IGS Hefei and VfL Wolfsburg plan to deepen their collaboration by offering ongoing, structured youth football training programmes. With football as a bridge, they aim to make lasting contributions to the development of youth sports education in Hefei.
