For one whole week, our students got to see the world through the eyes of real explorers. Curious, brave and bursting with ideas.

The idea behind the camp: children explore their environment step by step, on their own. They observe, they measure, they ask why, and in the end they build their own hands-on solutions.

It all started with wonder. With infrared thermometers, graduated cylinders and circuits, the kids went searching for the problems truly hidden in our environment. They learned to connect cause and effect, shaped their own questions, and made them visible for everyone on our “Problem & Wonder Wall”.

Then we headed outside. At Binhu Forest National Park, the children wandered through the wetlands and discovered plant ecology and biodiversity. Suddenly there was that moment when “so many problems” turned into “this is how we could solve it.” You could see it! The spark of innovation!

And then the building began. With sketches, heated discussions, setbacks and a whole lot of heart, five real prototypes came to life:

• A shaded spot at school that runs on green energy.
• A mobile system for effective waste separation.
• A garden model with a sustainable well, an insect hotel and plants.
• A recycled truck, transformed into a self-sufficient, off-grid living landscape.
• An energy-saving system powered by a pressure plate.

In their teams, the children had to wrestle for it: first for the idea, then for the design, then for every tiny detail of the build. And that struggle, wanting to give up and carrying on anyway, is exactly what turned an idea into a finished prototype.

The camp closed with our big Future Expo. Like at a real trade fair, the children stood proudly at their three product walls and walked their parents and families through every single step, from the very first problem to the finished model. They had built something real. And they could tell you, eyes shining, exactly why and how.

These are the moments that are important for development and self-growth: when a child shows their family what they created with their own hands and their own mind.
