We are proud to announce an important milestone in the development of the International German School Hefei. Following a successful accreditation process, IGS is now officially authorised to offer the complete Cambridge International Education pathway within our English School Programme.
This accreditation enables us to offer Cambridge Primary, Cambridge Lower Secondary, Cambridge IGCSE, and Cambridge International A Levels, providing students with a seamless educational journey from the primary years through to university entrance qualifications.
As a result, IGS is currently the only international school in Hefei able to offer the full Cambridge pathway, including internationally recognised qualifications at both the end of Grade 10 and Grade 12.

For our students, this means access to world-class academic programmes and qualifications that are recognised by universities and employers around the globe. The introduction of the Cambridge IGCSE programme is particularly significant, as it provides students with a respected international qualification already at the end of Grade 10, while Cambridge International A Levels continue to offer a strong pathway to leading universities worldwide.

Beyond these qualifications, the Cambridge framework also helps us maintain the highest standards of teaching and learning. Through the internationally benchmarked Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint assessments, we will be able to measure student progress against global standards, identify strengths and areas for development, and continuously evaluate the effectiveness of our programmes. These assessments provide valuable data that supports our commitment to academic excellence and continuous improvement.

At the same time, we remain committed to preserving the unique character of IGS. While our English Pathway now benefits from the full Cambridge framework, students from both the German-Bilingual and English pathways will continue to learn together in subjects such as Physical Education, Arts, Music, and ICT. This deliberate integration reflects our belief that education extends beyond academic qualifications. By bringing learners from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds together, we create a genuinely international learning environment that promotes collaboration, mutual understanding, and global citizenship.
In addition, German will continue to play an important role within the Cambridge programme and will be offered as a Foreign Language option, allowing students to further develop their multilingual competencies while benefiting from an internationally recognised curriculum.

This achievement represents another important step in our school’s journey. Within just one year of opening our doors, IGS has established itself as a school that combines internationally recognised academic pathways with a strong commitment to intercultural learning and community. We look forward to continuing this journey together with our students and families and are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
