Around the time of St. Martin’s Day, it is a cherished tradition in Germany to bake small goose-shaped cookies called Martinsgänse—a symbol of sharing, warmth, and community. These values perfectly reflect the message of St. Martin and the spirit of our Lantern Festival, reminding us how meaningful compassion and helpfulness are in our daily lives.
In this spirit, we had the pleasure of hosting a cozy Baking Day together with our Kindergarten families. Parents, grandparents, and siblings joined us in the classroom to bake goose cookies that were later shared with all children from the IGS during our Lantern Walk on November 7th.

With joyful laughter and flour-covered hands, families rolled out the dough, shaped their geese, and decorated them with care and creativity. The room was filled with warmth—the sweet smell of cookies, cheerful chatter, and the togetherness that comes from creating something to share with others.

It was a beautiful afternoon spent side by side—children, families, and teachers—celebrating kindness, community, and the joy of giving. Just as St. Martin once shared his cloak, our little bakers shared their handmade cookies, spreading smiles and sweetness throughout the school.
